Laura Nigro is the activities coordinator for The Gardens Memory Care neighborhood at Arbor Rose after working at Jerome Home as a therapeutic recreation director for over five years. She has a diverse background in many customer service-related industries including retail management and healthcare underwriting prior to finding her true passion: working with the senior population. Her position as activities coordinator incorporates her customer service skills, experience working with older adults and those with dementia in long-term care, as well as her personal interests in crafts, plants and collecting memorabilia of prior generations. She holds a BS in Early Childhood Education from Central Connecticut State University as well as a Certificate Program in Therapeutic Recreation and has completed dementia trainings including the nationally recognized Dementia Capable Care course. Laura is excited to embark on this journey in memory care, researching new avenues of care and ways to engage those living with dementia and tailoring programs to meet the diverse needs of this population.
